Georgia Southern University President Visits Georgia Grown Innovation Center in Metter
Dr. Kyle Marrero, President of Georgia Southern University, toured the Georgia Grown Innovation Center (GGIC) located in Metter, Georgia on Monday, December 14, 2020.
“I was thrilled to spend time with Metter City leadership and visit the new innovation center, a truly exceptional space that will ignite entrepreneurship in Metter and the surrounding areas,” stated President Marrero. “I believe the partnership between Georgia Southern University Business Innovation Group, the City of Metter and Georgia Grown will bring great success to the region as we work collaboratively to showcase and promote agribusiness.”
The Georgia Southern University business incubator, located at 25 South Terrell Street in Metter, supports the development of start-ups and expanding businesses by providing them with advisory and administrative support services. “The Georgia Grown Innovation Incubator is simply another example of the wonderful and long-term relationship between Georgia Southern University and the City of Metter,” said Dominique Halaby, Director of the Business Innovation Group. “I am personally excited to see that relationship evolve and strengthen to better serve this great community and its area businesses.”
The City of Metter’s Director of Economic Development, Heidi Jeffers, is also located in the GGIC. She works seamlessly with partners of Georgia Grown and Georgia Southern in the center. “This unique concept developed by the City of Metter provides excellent opportunities for business development for the community and throughout the region,” said Jeffers.
“The City of Metter is thrilled to have such an economic development tool in our community with Georgia Southern University, stated Mayor Ed Boyd. “We look forward to the future development of new and exciting businesses in Metter.”
